NC Age of Consent?

Ok I've seen in many places on the web including here that the age of consent in NC is 16. What I want to know is if the guy is 24 and the girl is 17, is she legally allowed to consent on her own without parental consent? Laws can be funny with wording and just wondering if as of now the age difference makes a difference.

In NC, once a person turns 16, unless the other person is a guardian, coach, teacher, school employee, etc., there are no age restrictions as to whom they can have sexual activity with. So, once a person reaches the age of consent, a person who is 60 can legally have intercourse with them.

How much time in jail would a 24 year old male spend for sleeping with a 13 year old girl? Semen samples were collected.

If there was no force or coercion used and it is a case of statutory rape, it is a B1 felony. With no prior convictions, the sentence is 12-25 years in prison. With priors convictions, the penalty could be life in prison without parole.
