Legal questions surrounding Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy

Will Jamie Lynn Spears boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, 19 years of age, face statutory rape charges in Louisiana or California?
There is a high probability that the answer to this question will be YES! "IF" Casey Aldridge is really the father! There has been much speculation and rumor that he is NOT the father of Jamie Lynn's baby. If he does turn out to be the father, it is likely he will face statutory rape charges and depending on what state they were in when the act occured, it could be a misdemeanor or a felony.

Is this another Hollywood statutory rape scandal in the making?
In the state of Louisiana, the age of consent is 17. In California, the age of consent is 18. The laws are different in each state and regardless of which jurisdcition you look at, it doesn't look favorable for Casey to walk away without a statutory rape charge. At this point there is only speculation about what state would have jurisdiction.

In Louisiana, (statute on page 2 of article) it is a felony with a potential maximum sentence of 10 years OR a maximum fine of $5000 or both.

In California, under Penal code 261.5 it may be a felony or a misdemeanor violation (depending on the age difference and other factors in the case) with a maximum potential fine of $10000 or a minimum of 1year in jail (possibly more) or both.

We were astonished at the number of questions we’ve received on this subject and want to stipulate that as far as we know, no charges have been filed in either state against Casey. There seems to be an almost morbid fascination with fallen celebrities and celebrity scandals. Older sister Britney Spears has certainly fed this fascination with her media shyness and fervant demands for privacy. (I am kidding of course.) Now younger sibling, Jamie is involved in a teen pregnancy, statutory rape scandal. What's next? Hopefully this doesn’t turn into some twisted sister sibling competition for shock value headlines and the spotlight.

That said, Jamie is a 16 year old teen ager. It is our sincere hope that Jamie Lynn, and her child receive the emotional support and stability necessary to get through a very tough time ahead. This is a serious situation for any teen and for any family. It is also our hope that Jamie and her pregnancy will not get swept up in a load of media coverage crap.

Make no mistakes about it; this is not going to be an easy path for Jamie or Casey (if he is the father). It is a struggle for all teens no matter what socioeconomic background they come from. With celebrity status, it can be even more brutal. This is very apparent with the media attention sister Britney’s behavior attracts. It’s been down right ugly over the past year and much of it could have been avoided, if "avoidance" was a part of the Spears marketing plan. Obviously it's not.

Jamie screwed up big time! Just like every other teen on the planet faced with hormone power surges, temptations and a natural curiosity about sex, those teens who consciously choose to experiment with sex at this age and do so without the use of protection often face the “life altering” and sometimes, “life threatening” consequences. Pregnancy is just “one” of many consequences we here about here at SexLaws.org. For many teens, sadly, the ability and the opportunity to be able to “choose” can be taken from them in acts of violence. The pressures and media saturation teens deal with surrounding sex can make the path very tough to negotiate.

There are people actually doing great things in the world and all we seem to be interested in is wollering in the shit. As long as we write about it, talk about it, and take pictures of it, I guess the shit will win over the things that actually matter. Some would argue that the bathroom is the most important room in the house. Here here! What a load of crap!

So now Dr. Phil gets bitched out for his comments about Britney's mental state and Jamie's pregnancy. I mean poor Dr. Phil just wants ratings like everybody else. What I don't get is the complete stupidity and nerve of the Spears camp. What a bunch of hypocrites! It's rumored that momma Spears sold Jamie Lynn's story for a cool million (+) to OK Magazine for the exclusive; you know damn well their is more fact to that than rumor. This bunch doesn't breath without whipping out the calculator; and then there's Britney; well, what's not to know about Britney. We see it all... no mystery there. It's sad really but I just can't bring myself to feel too sorry for them.

Man, you gotta whole lot of heat for these girls. you need chill out and lighten up. theyre just people with problems like the rest of us. only they have a little more money. I would have to agree with you though on the part about the innocent kids. I feel sorry for Brits babies. She is so screwed up I don't think she knows what she's doing anymore. She doesn't seem right in the head. Now even Dr Phil saw Britney in the hospital and he thinks she should not have been released. She might hurt erself or something. I guess I do feel bad for Britney and her sister. I don't know that much about Jamie cept she's probably messed up too. They need prayers...Max in Texas

Ok hear's my message to Jamie and Britney Spears!

What a load of CRAP!

I know everyone makes mistakes, but when you have young pre-teen girls idolizing these actresses thinking "this is who I want to be like" and these teen starlets are seen at parties drinking, on sex videos, have their faces and other parts of their bodies plastered all over the internet and youtube, they show no respect for themselves and no respect for their fans or human kind in general. Now this young starlett is 16 and pregnant? Well now there is a BIG SURPRISE! I mean WHAT A SHOCK! PAHLEASE! Give me a break!

It's really interesting how these two siblings are so competative for headlines. Cool how they make dam sure the entire world knows every last detail of everything that goes on even to the point of making stories up.

    "Hey Mom, lets give an exclusive interview to the tabloid with the highest bid, just you and me. We can talk all about how I am a really pretty, cool, 16 year old movie star with a ton of young fans and how I am sexually active, don't use protection, do it with a guy who is breaking the law by doing it with me, oh, and how responsible I am going to be now that I am all grown up and facing adult things."

These girls seem to have no class, no integrity, no sense of morals, no discretion, and absolutely NO shame!

What happened to "HIGH STANDARDS"? Let's aim high ladies! Lets bring innocent children into the world and then make absolute idiots and fools out of ourselves so that we can be sure the kids are as screwed up as we are to carry on our legacy. While we're at it, we can degrade women everywhere showing the worse human character possible. IN PUBLIC!

This is what we should all aspire to be like?

It's really hard to take it when people say "I feel so sorry for Britney and her sister Jamie". These girls live their lives by design! This is what sells magazines and newspapers and so many people believe this crap.

Do we have any brains left in our heads or has the media turned it into swiss cheese? Do we believe everything we see and read?

Britney has demonstrated over and over how irresponsible and wreckless she is with her children, AND SHE'S DONE IT ON CAMERA! This is her legacy! I never thought I would hear myself say this, but those kids may actually experience some long over due stablitiy with their father KFED.

One can only hope Jamie gets her act together for her kids sake.

I feel a little bad for being so sarcastic, but these girls really PISS me off. They have been blessed with so much talent and have many privilges in life and more possibilities to do good things than a majority of people on the planet; yet they choose to shit on their lives and the lives of others. They have chosen to travel the low road to the land fill. There is simply no excuse for it in my opinion. They are abusing their blessings at every turn and eventually, the blessings will be lost.

What have they done for this world that is worthy of the press and attention they receive. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So, I will end this with the same words I started... What a load of Crap!
