17 and a 26 year old?

I'm 17, and I'm dating a 26 year old. We haven't had sex yet, but neither of us really want to wait until I'm 18. Is it legal, since I'm only 17? Or could he go to jail?
The statutory age of consent in Michigan is 16. It would be safe to say that if a sexual relationship was established, the 26 year old would not be put in jail for criminal sexual conduct; unless, he is a teacher, or, someone in a position of influence or authority over you.
That said, it should also be brought to your attention that Michigan has several other laws (old ones) that could potentially be used against the 26 year old if a parent was motivated to prevent the relationship or make legal trouble for the 26 year old. (This would have to be a judgment call on your part.) I did not do extensive research to see how often violators are prosecuted for these laws and there are quite a few so I won’t post them all; however, one law that jumped off the page is below:
750.532 Seduction; punishment.
Sec. 532.
Punishment—Any man who shall seduce and debauch any unmarried woman shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 5 years or by fine of not more than 2,500 dollars; but no prosecution shall be commenced under this section after 1 year from the time of committing the offense.

If a 33 year old came to my door to pick up my kid? You best believe your getting your ass handed to you. Its totally unacceptable for a grown man/woman to be dating a teenager. What ever happened to saving yourself for your husband or wife? What about diseases?pregnancy? There are a lot of dads who would put a bullet in yer head too so you might want to re-think what you do.

I have liked this guy for a long time and we have said that we would wait until I turned 18 to date. But it is okay to date if I'm 16, right? This would be great news to tell him and I am very mature for my age so I don't wanna hear it.

I am 17 and my boyfriend is 35. We live in Michigan, where the age of consent is 16. Will the age difference make any difference in the intercourse being legal or illegal?

these people are strangers to us... the Wife is 33, Husband is ?? heard they been together for years... maybe since high school?? my daughter met them when selling basketball cookies and when she took my son out selling popcorn for boyscouts... somehow my daughter became good... friends.. so good she moved out at 17yrs and 9months and into there home. this couple do not have any kids... heard they can't conceive?? SO mothers instink from a picture i found... lead me to believe my daughter was having feeling for this married lady... 4 weeks after she moved out... I took this picture and cell phone records to the state police... the investigated the wife first and she broke down and confessed... she has been having oral sex with my 17yr old daughter for the past 3 months. her husband wanted to watch... holly didn't want him to at first, but ok'ed it... then while he was watching... he asked if he could join them.. my daughter said NO... So the police interview my daughter and she concented to sex with the wife so the police say there is nothing they can do... How long before the husband gets involved... has a baby and these people take the baby and kick her out... or are they swinges and to this all the time...?? just makes me sick to my stomach... this was my middle child... a very good child... had everything going for her... and she is now... for the past 4 weeks had no contact with me... nor i of her... because she could go to her older sisters and stay, or her grandma's... but she choose this married couples hs... I put a stop to that... because these adults have to have no contact with her until she's 18 in 3 months... BUT... is there any parent law to charge these people with... civily??? i am leagally responsible for her till she 18, but i can stop her from being in there house. she is not at a friends... cop said if holly concented to have sex with this married lady... i can not do anything...?????????? HELP...

If your girlfriend is 16 then she is of legal age of consent in MI and due to how little your age difference is there should not be a problem.... except for her dad, but it is in every dads nature to look out for their little girl.

I'm sixteen, and I happen to like a twenty-three year old quite a bit. I'm not saying we're going to have sex, especially since he won't even kiss me because he's afraid of prison, but I would like to know specifically what sorts of laws could parents use to hurt him if we were to date, or possibly even engage in intercourse.
Additionally, don't lecture me on "not being able to find anyone my own age"...
I would prefer him to anyone my own age, thanks...I'm simply trying to gather information so I can make a good decision...and your opinion won't affect that decision, but will probably just annoy me.

Is it legal for a 39 year old man to be looking for females in the 16-17 age range for sexual activities, specifically bisexual? Could he be considered a "person of power" if he is in the medical field? The father of my child has been doing that and it's sickening. It worries me even more because the child that we have together is a female. If he is that desperate to go after a naive little girl still in high school, who's to say he wouldn't go after my daughter too? He is obviously desperate. No 39 year old man in their right mind would or should be going after high schoolers. It sickens me very much and I wish I could do something to stop sickos like him.

You Sir are absolutely disgusting. What maturation milestones would you personally have to miss to feel equal with that of a 16 year old girls maturation level? As I am sure you well know, and probably quote very often to ease your own guilty mind, girls mature faster then boys however the gap is not as significant as 11 years. Nine of those years you've spent a legal adult responsible for paying your bills and maintaining proffessional relationships, somethings that give a truly different perspective and different experience. How could you then feel your not a sexual predator? I was once a?15 y/o girl dating a 35 y/o male, in hindsight I can see just how sick he was and how much he took advantage of me. Although our relationship never became sexual (of which I am sincerely thankful), there are so many things he took from me. If you have a conscientious, do what's right for her. If you care for her at all in your own twisted self surving ways, please realize the reason your with one woman so young is because you are damaged. Chances are you don't have enough of the qualities an adult woman would want so you use this young womans inexperience against her and make her believe she has something special. Although it is "special", it's not the special she needs. I am a 28 y/o woman and the thought of putting my hands on a 17 y/o boy disgusts me. If I were to engage in that behavior no matter what the law says, I WOULD be a child molester. If you take advantage of her after all I've said, you'd be?no better. In fact, now that you've been educated you'd be worse. I think that you are an emotionally immature and deviant adult to even want to have sexual relations with an individual in this age group. Although it may be illegal within the boundaries of the Age of Consent Law, there are other laws which still exist in Michigan, and if this child's (I am using this term purposefully) parents were motivated enough to do so, they could cause legal complications for you, including jail time and fines. As a parent of a 16 year old female, I for one would do everything in my power to cause you social and legal heartache if this were my child.

Yes the age of consent for intercourse in Michigan is 16. Though I and many other people find it wrong you are legally allowed to have intercourse with her.

I know a 26 year old from New York who has been going to Florida for this 17 year old and having sex with him. Since the age of consent is different between the two states, will she get in trouble if she is reported to the FBI? She's been bragging about it openly to anyone who opposes her relationship (which imo spells dumbass), gets mad at people her 17 year old boyfriend, emphasis on boy, lies about (I.e he asks a girl out and when the girl rejects him, he tells his 26 year old womanfriend that the girl asked him out), and she's a suicidal maniac (she tried killing herself with knives, guns, pills and failed). I myself am in a relationship The man is 20 and I am 16 he told me we couldnt have sex until we found out the true laws because it would kill me if he got put away. We fell in love and have been together for four years and though my parents just found out, they are getting used to it and are aprooving 8^)

You also need to take note of the federal laws. The age of consent is 16 in Michigan. However, under federal law, if one uses a form of technology that exists in interstate commerce (the internet), then he or she can be punished under federal law if the "victim" is under 18.
